Camp Claddagh
Hosting Chernobyl Children 2012

To date Camp Claddagh has hosted some 200 children and looks forward to continue its programme for the summer of 2012. This year 30 children visited Galway for the month of July. Whilst the children had a wonderful time with the host families, the more serious side of the holiday allowed the children a chance to recover from the effects of radiation, reducing their contamination levels by 30 – 50 percent and adding an estimated two years of healthy living to their lives.
The Children will be in Galway for the month of July 2012 and will stay in pairs, with two separate families, over that period. One family will host two children for the first part of the holiday (approximately two weeks) and then the children move, together to a second host family for the latter part of their holiday (again approximately two weeks.)
