Welcome to Camp Claddagh
the Galway Branch of the Adi Roche-founded Charity, Chernobyl Children International
To date, Camp Claddagh has hosted some 240 children, and looks forward to continuing this very worthwhile programme. Whilst the children have a wonderful time with the host families, the more serious side of their visit is to allow the children a chance to recover from the effects of radiation, reducing their contamination levels by 30 – 50 percent and adding an estimated two years of healthy living to their lives.
The Children stay in Galway for the month of July and stay in pairs, usually with two separate families, over that period. One family will host two children for the first part of the month (approximately two weeks) and then the children move, together, to a second host family for the latter part of the month (again approximately two weeks.)
